(the) Fosbury flop
(in sport) a way of doing the high jump. The person jumps backwards over the bar with the legs following the upper body. It is named after the US ↑athlete Dick Fosbury who first used this method at the 1968 Olympics and won a gold medal. It is now widely used by other ↑athletes.
